Reviewing MAC Studio Tech foundation

My skin is kind of mixed… I have  dry parts, but it usually tends to get very oily, especially on the nose, its surrounding area on my cheeks, the forehead and the chin.

Wearing makeup had always been hard for me, because after a while my skin starts to perspire and my face look like I poured olive oil on it.

My mom is been using Mac Studio Tech combined with Mac Studio Fix for awhile, so I thought I should improve my makeup bag. I went to a Mac corner inside a mall and asked for help. I told the MUA what were my skin and appareance needs and he gave me this Mac Studio Tech NC42 (the next one he had was 45 if I recall and was too dark).

My routine was to apply a base under it and some powder over. I used a sponge, I tried both dry sponge and wet sponge, but the latter method wasn’t covering well my skin imperfections … By the way, no matter how hard I tried to smooth it better, even watching tutorials on YT, that foundation always caked.

I went abroad and took the opportunity to buy a new one at a duty-free store in the airport. I told the MUA there which number I was given previously and she immediately was like “No, that colour’s too light for you. It won’t blend well with your skin tone and would cake” - I was like, that’s why…! - “NC43 should be your colour” She tried it on my hand and it matched perfectly.

When I finished the NC42 I started the NC43 and wow, what a difference! I had kind of the porcelain-peachey face after, no cakey effect at all.

The sad part is, no matter the goodness of the product, no mater the base or the powder, after like… 4 hours of having it on my face, I always ended up looking oily. Olive-oil-on-my-skin kind of like. I always had to find a minute to stop and blot my face with a oil-absorbing rice paper tissue with rice powder. I’m working as a waitress, breakfast room kind of waitress… who knows this job also knows you have no time to rest in between clients, you run a lot, you carry the heaviest trays, your back hurts, your ego worst… all things that lead you to sweat and perspire more. No time to go to the restroom, so no time to re-apply any powder, either. As I said, if I was lucky, I could blot my face.

I am a normal woman who does a normal job and needed a wonder foundation.

I’m telling you a secret: Mac Studio Tech is no wonder foundation. Could be, maybe… if you’re the kind of woman who works at her desk in an bureau or inside a beauty shop and has time - or is forced to - redo her makeup over and over. But all the other oily-faced women what can they do?

I have also to tell you Mac Studio Tech gave my poor skin ACNE (I ain’t meaning just pimples, but cystic acne). I’m 28 and I never had acne previously. It could be adult-acne, but still. Not all the ladies can go and have their faces scrubbed at the salon often.

Maybe I should have tried to use it with a brush, instead of the sponge. Now, anyway, I’ve been stolen of my purse which, of course, contained my foundation… and since I’m not going to buy that again… (anytime soon at least).

Isn’t worth (for me) 31 €. (or the 21€ at the duty-free)

This is the second product from Essence I’m making a review about. Also with this one, the moment I saw it, it was mine. Before starting I’d like to tell you Cosnova is a cruelty free society: they don’t test on animals nor buy components from other societies which do that. Stay With Me Longlasting Lipgloss it’s a fab product for its little price ( 2,49 € ) that, brushed just once on your lips, with its spongy and curvy-ergonomic and hourglass-shaped applicator, works as a random colored lipgloss but brushed more than once works as a glossy lipstick and completely covers your lips. I chew on my lips all day long and this lipgloss stays there. After a while (hours), some drinks, some food, the glossy part, obviously, starts to fade but the pigments are glued to your lips, period. I always bring it with myself, but that’s because I’m addicted to a glossy look for my lips. Usually when I’m at work for 7/8 hours I retouch it twice: after lunch and, before that, at mid morning, just because of the glossyness (as I told you, I chew on my lips). After a couple of days I bought it, my mum was like “I want it too, just in a darker tone”, so I bought her the plum colored one. Most female collegues asked me about what I was wearing, because it doesn’t look cheepy at all once you wear it. Both males and females were like “You do look better with makeup” (I work as a waitress so I’m in constant contact with people), but I did wear makeup already… just a little, because I don’t want to look like a h*e…. This lipgloss made the difference! On their website they offer a color chart… …but it doesn’t correspond to the true colors by the way. It’s a product from the famous European make up brand, Essence, which proposes mid quality stuff (not pro but neither poor) for the cheapest prices around. I tell you, the cheapest. This product is called Nail Art Express Dry Drops and does exactly what it says: right after you applied your nail polish, apply one or two drops of this product (with its dropper applicator) and in one minute the stuff is going to be dry, period. Bought at OVS Industry, but I saw their stand also at Coin for just 2.29 €. It was mine at the first look. OVS Industry EN - ITA / Coin EN - ITA / Essence DE - EN
